When it comes to designing your homes, it tends to take longer than people expect – as correlating all colours, shapes and sizes together is a larger task. Curtains are a huge part of your window areas and can really bring your room to life. If you are somebody who wants to be as trendy as possible, then follow our guide to being ahead of trends for 2026.

In-style Colours
Of course colours really do depend on the style of your homes. So, following curtain trends can differ person to person. But here are some in colours regardless of your current decor:
- Warm neutrals: soft taupe, stone, oatmeal and “greige” that work with almost anything.
- Earthy greens: shades like sage, olive and eucalyptus that feel calm.
- Soft terracotta tones: clay, rust and cinnamon for a cosy, luxe feel.
- Deep blues: inky navy and midnight blue for a rich, elegant look.
- Muted blush tones: dusty rose and nude pink for a softer, more romantic finish.
Questioning if your current tones/ shades are going out of fashion? There are definitely fluctuations in what people like in their homes. Here are a few that were ones a must-have but are slowly being pushed out of the door: Light Greys, White, Grey Blues and some more. If these are currently what you own, you may have a minimalist design within your home. This alone is still ‘in’, but if you fancy a change in 2026 the more earthy styles are where you should be heading.
What Are The Curtain Trends with the Style
Believe it or not, curtains have a wide range of styles and there are many that you could try out for a revamp.
Retro Patterns
As time progresses fashion is seeing the value in retro and vintage as a style. This goes for curtain trends. There are such a wide variety of patterns you can get when investing into these, so you should be sure you will find something for the room you need them for. With retro patterns you will find that they become the heart of the room and work differently to how curtains typically do – being the supporting room feature.

Cafe Curtains
A huge craze is the sightings of cottage aesthetics. If you are unsure of what cafe curtains mean and how they are envisioned in a room. We are here to describe that for you. These will sit on the bottom half or your window, leaving the top half open. They are usually made with lightweight materials such as linen. You can still expect privacy while letting in enough light so it isn’t dull.
Full Natural Linen
Soft materials like these can create less of a clinical feel than plain white curtains and feel much calmer and cosier. This is likely the case because of their organic touch.

Colour Drenching
If you love the idea of updating your curtains to fit new trends but don’t want to change the whole vibe of your room, colour drenching is a great option. This style is all about using one colour – or very similar shades – across your walls, woodwork and soft furnishings to create an immersive, joined-up look.
For example, if your room already has warm, neutral orange tones, you could choose curtains in a slightly deeper or richer orange. This keeps the space feeling like “you”, but makes it look more considered and on-trend.

Quick General Tip
You can elevate the look of your windows with a few simple tricks. Hanging your curtains a little higher helps the room feel taller, and choosing a width that extends slightly beyond the window gives a fuller, more luxurious look. It also helps to pick the right lining for your needs, whether that’s blackout, thermal or standard. Finally, choose fabrics that match the atmosphere you want to create, whether that’s calm, cosy or bold.
